In 2003, KVHP established a special low-powered Fox / UPN
station for the Beaumont area, KUIL-LP
on channel 64 (that station has since became independent, with Fox now on KBTV-TV
). KVHP also has another Texas-based repeater, KVHP-LD channel 44 in Jasper
. In March 2011, programming from KVHP-LD was shifted from the main KVHP programming to programming from KBMT
.
KVHP is transmitting 720p HD w/ 5.1 audio on 29.1 and their CW SD signal on 29.2. This signal was transmitted via their low power transmitter from the tower located next to the studio on Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles. The full power digital signal was moved to the 1300 ft (396m) tower near Edgerly around the beginning of 2009. KVHP signed on the air in 1983 as an independent station. In 1986, KVHP became a Fox
affiliate.

KVHP briefly aired news capsules and newscasts in the late 80's and early 90's before dropping them for a number of years. The station began airing local news once again in 1999, and expanded to producing a 2-hour morning show and 5 PM newscast within a year of the launch. KVHP was never considered a serious threat to KPLCKPLC
