KVMI, known as 103.9 The Truck, is a radio station
serving the Cass County, North Dakota
including Fargo/Moorhead, that airs a country music
format. They are licensed to Arthur, North Dakota
with studios in Casselton, North Dakota
and can be received in the Fargo-Moorhead Arbitron market (#215).
format as "Kool 96.7". Kool 96.7 later changed its format to a FM Talk format. In 2003, KVMI moved from its 5 kilowatt
96.7 signal to a new 25 kilowatt 103.9 frequency at a new transmitter site. The frequency move was an attempt to get a better signal into the Fargo area. Since the relocation of KBOT 104.1 in the summer of 2011 to Detroit Lakes, KVMI can now file for a powerful 50,000 watt C2 signal that will put a stronger city-grade signal into Fargo/Moorhead.
The move to 103.9 also encountered a format change back to oldies as "Kool 103.9". Increasing competition from KEGK
"Eagle 106.9" forced KVMI to change its format to adult contemporary as "Star 103.9" in 2004.
