Kachemak, locally known as Kachemak City is a city in Kenai Peninsula Borough, Alaska
, United States. The population was 431 at the 2000 census.
Kachemak means "large cliff by the water" in Yupik.
The city lies just east of Homer
on the north side of Kachemak Bay
in south central Alaska.

The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 3.06.
In the city the age distribution of the population shows 23.9% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 21.6% from 25 to 44, 33.9% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 113.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 106.3 males.
