Encyclopedia
Kahn Fotuali’i is a New Zealand rugby union
player for the Ospreys in the RaboDirect Pro12 having signed from Crusaders of the Super 14
competition in the Summer of 2011. He plays as a scrum-half and fly-half.
He has recently transferred to Hawkes Bay for the 2010 season. Kahn played two seasons for Nelson Bays - 2004 and 2005.
He has the honour of scoring the Tasman Makos first ever Air New Zealand Cup try in 2006. He has played 38 games for the Tasman Makos.
While playing for Tasman he played his local rugby for Stoke. He was an instrumental figure for Stoke in 2009 leading up to their first club title since 1997.
In 2002 he played with New Haven Rugby in the United States and led the club to a Division II national championship playing primarily at #10.
Kahn Fotuali'i had a successful year in 2010 scoring 5 tries for the Crusaders and starting most games ahead of All Blacks halfback Andy Ellis until he was suspended for breaking crusaders protocol. However from his impressive form on the field for the Crusaders many thought Fotuali'i would be very close to All Black selection.
In 2010 Fotuali'i chose to represent Manu Samoa
for their 2010 end of year tour. He made his debut for them against Japan
where he scored Samoa's only try to win the game 13 - 10 and was Man of the Match.
