On 1578, Otomo Yoshishige attacked the Shimazu clan

gathered 500 troops to hold ground at Taka Castle. He managed to defend the castle and this led to a decline in the morale of the Otomo troops. In the Battle of Mimigawa
that followed, the Shimazu army defeated Otomo, who retreated under heavy losses. Kamachi Akimori died in the battle.
