Continuing a record season, the Wildcats made an appearance in the championship game of the regional, beating Xavier and Rice University the first two games to come within one game of advancing to the Super Regional round. Also in 2009, Brad Hill was named Big 12 Coach of the Year and A.J. Morris was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Year, as well as First Team All-American.
