Karel Lismont is a former Belgian athlete, who competed mostly in the marathon. He won two Olympic medals: a silver medal
at the 1972 Summer Olympics
in Munich
and a bronze
at the 1976 Summer Olympics
in Montreal
in the same event. At the European Championships
in Helsinki in 1971, he won a gold medal
in the marathon. In addition, he won two European Championships bronze medals: in Prague
in 1978, and in Athens
in 1982. He also competed in the 1980 and 1984 Olympic marathons, finishing ninth and twenty-fourth, respectively. Lismont was less successful as a 10,000 metres runner than as a marathoner, finishing eleventh in the 1976 Summer Olympics and outside the top fifteen at the 1978 European Athletics Championships.
