Karingal Park Secondary College was created after a merger of two other secondary colleges in the same area, Karingal Secondary College (formerly Karingal High School) and Ballam Park
Secondary College (formerly Ballam Park Technical College).
Karingal High School was originally located in the Life Saving Club in Frankston, during the 1950s, before relocating to the suburb of Karingal. Therefore, the Colleges history is long and often unknown to staff and students.
Because of the name change the schools uniform was also dramatically edited. The schools colours are now purple and grey
Term 1 & 4 - Females: summer dress, purple college jumper, grey socks and black polishable school shoes. Males: Grey trousers or shorts, while college shirt, purple college jumper, grey socks and black polishable school shoes.
Term 2 & 3 - Females: While college shirt, grey college skirt or trousers, purple college tie, purple college jumper, grey socks and black polishable school shoes. Males: Grey trousers or shorts, while college shirt, purple college jumper, purple college tie, grey socks and black polishable school shoes.
Students are not permitted to wear the summer uniform in terms 2 & 3 or the winter uniform in terms 1 & 4. Many students have voiced their concerns with this policy but the school council has not responded.

Changing to McClelland College
In 2009 Karingal Park Secondary College, changed its name to McClelland Secondary College though known as McClelland College by the community. This decision was officially taken by the staff of the school and the local council, including the principal of the school.Because of the name change the schools uniform was also dramatically edited. Uniform Discrepancy Within The Student Community
When the uniform was changed the policy was strengthened by a tenfold. Students are now taken from class if they are not in correct uniform. According to the college correct uniform is:Term 1 & 4 - Females: summer dress, purple college jumper, grey socks and black polishable school shoes. Males: Grey trousers or shorts, while college shirt, purple college jumper, grey socks and black polishable school shoes.
