Kasha (Pendragon series)

Kasha was a fictional character in The Pendragon Adventure
book series by D. J. MacHale and also the Traveler from the jungle territory of Eelong. Kasha made her appearance in book 5 of the series, Black Water (novel)
, although she has been mentioned in later books. After Kasha's death at the end of book 5, Eelong no longer has a Traveler because Kasha was a Traveler from Bobby's
generation, which was the last generation of Travelers.
She appears at the end of Raven Rise, along with Press Tilton and the other Travelers, on Third Earth.
Kasha is a forager (a seeker of food), and so has become hardened to carnage and danger in Eelong's savage ecosystem
. The primary predators of Eelong's ecosystem, the raptorlike tangs, were responsible for the death of Kasha's mother, and so she goes out of her way to kill any tangs she sees.Kasha is the name of a Japanese cat demon and may be where Kasha got her name.

Mark and Courtney, as acolytes, were not supposed to use the flumes, but they had anyway, eventually weakening Eelong's flume until it collapsed on their departure. cremated her and Bobby vowed to spread her ashes at her father's favorite spot on Eelong.

Personality
At first Kasha wanted nothing to do with the Travelers. However she later accepts her role as the Traveler from Eelong. Kasha had the a similar personality to the rest of the catlike Klees at the beginning of the Black Water, in that she saw her own race as inherently superior to the human Gars. However, she did not hold the Gars in contempt as did some of her people, and sometimes went out of her way to protect them.Kasha is a forager (a seeker of food), and so has become hardened to carnage and danger in Eelong's savage ecosystem

Background
Kasha refused to believe in the Travelers and the territories, and thus accused the Travelers of changing her father from a clever klee to a dreamy one that was obsessed with "imaginary" concepts. Her attitude changed when she, Bobby, and Yorn, believed to be Seegen's acolyte, but in fact Saint Dane in disguise, traveled to Black Water, a sanctuary for gars. She discovered what a monster Saint Dane could be when she witnessed her old friend Yorn transform into the arrogant figure of Saint Dane, who had also killed her father with a poisoned appleApple

Family and Friends
- Seegen: Seegen was Kasha's father, and the Traveler before her. He had been a prominent citizen of Leeandra, their home, but had changed after Press had visited him. was revealed to have been hiding out as Yorn, Seegen's acolyte. Kasha had loved her father dearly, and was furious when he came back dead, poisoned by an apple.
- Her Mother: Kasha's mother was a Forager, one who picked food from the forest floor. She was murdered by Tangs when Kasha was young, so Kasha became a Forager to avenge her mother's death.
- Boon: Boon was Kasha's best friend. As a result, he became her acolyte when Kasha came to accept her identity as a Traveler. Although he is quite naive, he is likable and pleasant to all.
- Yorn: Seegen's friend and Acolyte. Kasha describes him as "one of the family."
