In 2005, Kate Voegele became the youngest winner in the history of the USA Songwriting Competition at the time by winning the first prize of the Pop category of the 10th Annual USA Songwriting Competition with her song "Only Fooling Myself". In 2007, Voegele released the first single from her debut album, "Only Fooling Myself". In 2008, Voegele began writing for a new album, and by the end of the year, she had signed a contract with Interscope RecordsInterscope Records
