This church is built in the baroque

 style and stands 54 meters in height. Construction began in 1678 and finished in 1681 only to be destroyed in 1944 as a result of Allied bombing during the Second World War. Reconstruction of the church took place between 1950 and 1954.

It is one of eight Dotationskirchen (dotation church) - since 1802 - in Frankfurt.
