In 2008, Bowlen was replaced by Tamara Oudyn
as weekend presenter of ABC News Victoria. She presented her final bulletin on 25th January 2008. Through 2008, Bowlen continued to present Stateline.
In November 2008, Bowlen resigned from the ABC after a 20 year career to join the Australian Red Cross
as national media manager.
