Newcomers Home's music was primarily influenced by bluegrass and folk music; however, over time, the band's work became more influenced by pop music. Although initially Herzig suffered from stage fright and confined herself to singing backing vocals and playing the drums for the band, she eventually began to play the guitar and became a lead singer.
