At the 1924 Olympics he was fourth in the 4x200 m freestyle relay event and fifth in the 100 m freestyle event and in the 1500 m freestyle event.
Four years later he won a silver medal in 4x200 m freestyle relay event and bronze medal in the 100 m freestyle event. He was also fourth in the semifinal of 400 m freestyle event and did not start in the semifinal of 1500 m freestyle event and did not advance in both occasions.
