. He was named the 19th head coach in Eskimos history on December 10, 2010 after signing a three-year contract. Reed formerly played for the Eskimos from 1995 to 1999 before suffering a career-ending neck injury.

Reed lives in Edmonton during the off-season with his wife Darlene and their two children, Tyra and Tarik. Other immediate family members include: mother Mary Dean Reed and sisters Dionnia, Ashley, and Sasha Reed all of South Carolina.
