First involvement with boxing began in the late 1960s at the Taunton, Massachusetts Boys and Girls club as an amateur and continued into 1980s where he trained under N.J. Hall of Fame trainer Tex Gonzales in Parsipanny N.J. After being advised not to turn professional due to shoulder injuries he began writing on the sport of boxing in 1984.

Well known for closely covering the financial and contractual issues between Manny Pacquaio and Marco Barrera that resulted in a successful lawsuit for Pacquiao.

He has managed fighters Xavier Tolliver, Calvin Shakir, and Vendran Akrap
as well as worked with dozens of professional fighters in various roles that include training, managing, and advising.

Terceira is currently serving as North American Coodinator for the World Boxing Federation and is a member of its Championship Committee, after successful service as former Vice President, North American Chairman, and Rating Committee Chairman for the Universal Boxing Council (UBC) and serves as Mid-South Rep. for the Retired Boxer Foundation headed by Alex Ramos. In addition Terceira functions as President of the Fort Smith Boxing Association, a non-profit amateur boxing club in Fort Smith, Arkansas,as well as serving several non-profit organizations.

Mr. Terceira has received honors from the Portuguese-American Historical Research Foundation which has placed him on their honor roll of distinguished Americans with Portuguese ancestry.
