Kel Tremain

Kelvin Robin "Kel" Tremain is a former All Black and Hawkes Bay rugby player, a flanker. He played 38 tests for New Zealand
between 1959 and 1968, scoring a total of 27 points.
During the 1960s he had a status in New Zealand rugby comparable to that of his team-mate Colin Meads
.
He was born in Auckland
on 21 February 1938, and died in Napier
on 2 May 1992 aged only 54 after a short illness. His death shocked many people. The Kelvin Tremain Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to New Zealand's player of the year.
