The stunningly beautiful Kempty Falls is situated on the Hilly tracks of 'Uttaranchal, (INDIA), 15 km from Mussoorie on the Chakrata Road . This place is located nearly 1364 Meter above the sea level and placed 78^o-02’East on longitude and 30^o -29’North on Lattitude of the globe . The Kempty Falls , surrounded by high mountain ranges and located at a high altitude of 4500 feet, is a good place for picnic or for spending a couple of hours listening to the music of water in the midst of the Greenery which cover the surroundings .

Exploration

Kempty Falls was developed as a tourist destination by a British officer John Mekinan, around 1835. The name Kempty is probably derived from the word 'camp-tea', as the British, during the colonial rule, would organize their tea parties here. A string of water running throughout the year starting from the southwest of village Banglow ki kandi moves into the northwest direction and somersault drown from the astounding height of 4,500 ft. Splitting into five other cascades, the water further falls down 40 ft giving the appearance of water jumping on the rocks below. It looks as if the water is playing with the rocks. At Kempty, the water almost appears as if the streams are themselves doing a somersault before they hit the bottom. Yamuna is not far from the Kempty when one travels past it some 12 km downhill on crossing the Aglar River. Trout are in abundance here, and fishing permits can be obtained form the Divisional Forest Officer, Mussoorie. For those seeking the thrill of the gigantic falls for more than just a quick trip, there are arrangements for accommodation in huts in the area around Kempty. The falls can be visited round the year except in Rainy season starting from the months of July and August.

There is an estimated tourist inflow of 10 lakh people which has been increase from 5 lakhs as per govt estimates in 1993.
