History

The Roland Park Company purchased most of the land surrounding what is today Keswick. By 1915, Roland Park had been largely completed and the land of Keswick was divided about equally between a property owned by Allen L. Carter between Kittery Lane and the Stony Run stream; and the St. Mary's Female Orphan Asylum between Kittery Lane and Roland Avenue. In the 1920s and 1930s the Carter property was developed, forming the core of today's Keswick, and several commercial properties arose along Cold Spring Lane. Between 1974 and 1989, the community of Roland Springs was built on the former Asylum property.
