End-to-End Service quality testing is a common test approach in the telecommunications industry, in addition to monitoring solutions. Whereas monitoring solutions look at the actual traffic on a network, End-to-End Service quality testing can be deployed on purpose. Example: calls (or other services, such as SMS, MMS) can be initiated in an automated way from one end to the other, testing if services are up and running in a favorable quality. A typical example for the deployment of active End-to-End Service quality testing-yet not limited to these examples-is the introduction of new services, the simulation of traffic volume that might be expected at a certain event, or service quality, e.g. in roaming situations.
Active End-to-End testing for Service Quality Assurance
With the Keynote SIGOS SITE test system network operators host and work with their own testing facilities. Key here is the ability to integrate the system into the existing network infrastructure. Interfaces to complementary solutions, e.g. monitoring systems, are provided so that SITE can be easily integrated. The SITE test system’s architecture is modular.
GlobalRoamer provides the means to emulate the behaviour of real roamers, delivering fully end-to-end tests using mobile devices located in networks all over the world. Keynote SIGOS SIM Multiplexing technology allows the user’s SIMs to be virtually transmitted to any of these remote locations to create real calls. Complete, real time visibility of the resulting network messaging allows rapid fault resolution. Scheduling of tests allows the monitoring of high value destinations. GlobalRoamer alarms and reports alert network operators to failures or service degradation. Armed with this information engineering resources can be directed where they can be used most profitably in protecting high value roaming business.
