Kfm Breakfast runs for three hours, with news read half-hourly in both English and Afrikaans between 06h00 and 09h00. Sports is read on the half-hour between 07h00 and 09h00.The show relies on a number of on-air contributors, and often includes members of the production team, news and sport readers and other studio guests.

The show is well-known for its daily features:- GK Elite, where call-in contestants go head-to-head, given 60 seconds each to answer as many general knowledge questions as possible. A monthly leaderboard charts the daily contestants' success, and the months' winners face each other in a R200,000 (±US$30,000) showdown at the end of the season. The 2007 winner, announced on 7 November, was Reddam House teacher Bridget Bertram.

- Ryan's Character Call, Each day Ryan calls someone as one of his characters (Basil, Jerome, Johan, Wiseman or George). Two other characters, an Indian man named Rah, and a professional racing driver (Kimi) have also been known to make an appearance from time to time.
