His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa King of Bahrain, assigned the Speaker of the Council of Representatives Mr. Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dahrani to chair the National Dialogue because of the popularity and confidence he enjoys among all the political forces, in addition to his broad experience and his prominent role in the national action, his wisdom and moderation and coherence which will favorably serve the dialogue, in which he will expectedly manage the dialogue with balance, professionalism and responsibility. Al Dahrani’s political experience goes back as long as the beginning of the seventies of the previous century, where he was elected as a member of the National Council, which was established in the era of the late Amir Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, during the period 1973 - 1975, which was the first parliamentary elections Bahrain has witnessed, in which the elections received popular and distinct participation.
Al Dahrani performed the parliamentary and legislative work for ten consecutive years in the appointed, Shura Council where he was appointed as member of the Council in 1992 until 2002 for his popularity and experience. He was also blessed with royal trust ranking him a member of the High Preparatory Committee of the National Action Charter during the period 2000 - 2001.
Al Dahrani enjoys the confidence of the Bahraini people, where he run three parliamentary elections held in Bahrain after the reform project during 2002,2006 and 2010, where he secured a majority vote of his constituency at the first round of all the legislative elections.
Due to his good relations with all Spectrum and political forces in and outside the parliament, Al Dahrani was elected the speaker of the Council of Representatives in first legislative term (2002 - 2006), he also won in the 2006 elections, which witnessed high participation rated (72%) and witnessed an official participation from the opposition political forces, he was elected as speaker of the House in the second Legislative term (2006 - 2010), and in the council’s election in 2010, which witnessed popular participation rated (67%). Al Dahrani won the membership of the Council for the same ninth district of the Central governorate, and was acclimated for the position of the speaker of the Council by all the parliamentary political forces, due to his respect, acceptance and trust worthy of all.
Al Dahrani is chairing the Executive Committee of the inter-parliamentary group of the Kingdom of Bahrain (since 2002 to 2014), which is responsible of strengthening the foreign parliamentary relations with parliaments, as well as Arab, western and international councils.
