Kho-Bwa languages
Encyclopedia
The Kho-Bwa or Bugunish languages are a small family of Tibeto-Burman languages
spoken in India. They are Khowa (Bugun), Sulung (Puroik), Lishpa, and Sherdukpen. Van Driem (2001) suggested the name Kho-Bwa based on the reconstructed words *kho 'fire' and *bwa 'water'.
Ethnologue leaves the classification of Lishpa and Sherdukpen unresolved, but notes that they are closest to Chug and Sartang, respectively, so these might also be expected to be Kho-Bwa languages.
