Couture faced Lina Kvokov in her second MMA fight at Strikeforce: Destruction
in San Jose, California on November 21, 2008. She won the fight by TKO in the first round.
She was originally scheduled to face Miesha Tate
at Strikeforce Challengers: Evangelista vs. Aina
on May 15, 2009, but withdrew from the fight for undisclosed reasons.

Couture faced Sheila Bird at AX Combat 1 on July 8 at the Calgary Telus Convention Centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where she lost by technical submission after what some considered a late stoppage. After the fight hit the mat in the opening round, Bird locked a leg-scissors choke on Couture. The Calgary Combative Sports Commission investigated the stoppage and ruled in favor of the referee.
