Kimmage Development Studies Centre - Holy Ghost Fathers Missionary College, Kimmage manor, Dublin, was founded in 1974 by the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost Fathers
) for the humanities courses for the education and training of people working in development, both lay and clerical.
A number of the courses including the full time courses are validated by the Irish governments Higher Education and Training Awards Council
(HETAC). The college runs an undergraduate BA in Development Studies, the college also runs an Postgrad Diploma / MA in Development studies (HETAC). Kimmage also run an MA in Drylands Policy and Climate Change Adaption in association with the Sokoine University of Agriculture
in Tanzania. A 1 year course in understanding development is also available.In association with the danish voluntary organisation MS Training
Centre for Development Cooperation(MS-TCDC), Kimmage runs a number of courses in Arusha, Northern Tanzania

As part of their provision of education the college uses distance/online learning, such as Moodle
, DLink and Kode systems. Short professional courses are available via the DTALK system, and distance learning for development workers available via the KODE system.
Staff from Kimmage Manor (along with Trocaire) are involved in the delivery of the practical modules of the joint TCD-UCD Masters in Development Practice.
With the demise in vocations the college moved to lay education in pastoral studies and theology becoming The Kimmage Mission Institute.
In 1980 the Irish governments National Council for Educational Awards(NCEA) recognised Kimmage DSC, and validated a number of its courses. The Bachelor of Arts In Theology and Anthropology validated by NCEA(forerunner to HETAC) was recognised by the Teaching Council of Ireland for purposes of Religious education in secondary schools in Ireland.
The Kimmage Mission Institute of Theology and Cultures was establised in 1991 (from the former Theological Studies faculty of Holy Ghost College), and in 2003 it moved to the Milltown Institute
. As the Kimmage Mission Institute, Diplomas in Theology, and Masters in Theology and in Faith and Cultural Studies were offered.

Centre for Development Cooperation(MS-TCDC) in 1994 Kimmage DSC commenced the running of a Community Development Programme Officers certificate course, in Arusha, Northern Tanzania
. In 2001 as part of the partnership with MS-TCDC, KDSC began offering a Diploma in Development Studies which in 2004 became the Level 7 BA Degree in Development Studies.
Over the years much of the grounds were sold off for housing development, and a residential and nursing home for elderly members of the congregation was provided.
The Church of the Holy Spirit, Kimmage Manor, is now used as a local parish church, other buildings on the site include the original Manor building(Kimmage House), Marian House, Mission House and Des Places Education centre.
The Des Places Education Association administers the Spiritans Schools in Ireland

History
Kimmage Manor was built in the 18th century and remodeled in tudor style in the 19th century. The Holy Ghost Fathers came to Kimmage in 1911 when they purchased the house and its 69 acres. The developing buildings on the site such as the church and college buildings, the Holy Ghost Missionary College train priests for countries such as Nigeria, Kenya, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Malawi as well as some other countries in Latin America and Asia.With the demise in vocations the college moved to lay education in pastoral studies and theology becoming The Kimmage Mission Institute.
