As with other grammar schools in Birmingham, including those of the the King Edwards Foundation, Camp Hill schools admission is selective and is granted to students based on their performance in the Eleven plus exam. On average over 1000 children sit the exam each year to compete for 120 places.

Curriculum

All students study ICT long-course GCSE, and AS Computing is offered as a GCSE option. Year 11 students either take GCSE statistics or an FSMQ in additional maths. The school is located on Vicarage Road, adjacent to the boys' school. The school also promotes Maths and IT locally, and has recently worked with Brownies and a local charity to offer IT classes for adult learners. Pupils from local primary schools are invited into school and have taken part in various maths activities and ICT activities. Staff from the school go out and work in neighbouring primary and secondary schools. There are maths days for pupils in Year 7 and 8, along with enrichment sessions for the brightest mathematicians in KS3. An Information Technology block can accommodate sixty pupils. A new science and geography block was opened in April 2010, named the 'learning hub', or often just the 'hub'.

Campus

Facilities include computer rooms, libraries, several science labs, art and design rooms, and many classrooms. Nearly all of the classrooms are equipped with smart boards and projectors. The former boy's gym serves as the school library, the wing where the English department is placed, and a Sixth Form study area.Sharing the site with the boys' school, some major music events such as concerts, and occasional drama activities, such as plays and musicals are jointly produced. A two week timetable synchronises shared lessons for the A-level subjects such as German. Single gender activities and facilitiers such as sport and the main school buildings are not shared.  building is shared, with facilities for girls on the top floor, and for the boys on the ground floor. A joint sports hall is used by both boys and girls with a separation barrier. The dining room has a dividing wall that can be folded away. A food technology room is situated between the Girl and Boys school.

In October 2006, the sports hall was officially opened, and includes two gyms, a dance/drama studio and, on the second floor, two classrooms and a 'fitness room' . The building also includes a lift for the disabled.

Houses

Six houses, Cartland, Lichfield, Meriden, Priory, Stratford and Warwick are related to the school's history. There are various house events throughout the year such has a house festival and house fair. In the house
The house festival is like a talent competition between all the houses. Each year there is a theme and the four events (songs, quiz, dance and craft) are dictated by this theme. The events are judged by the teachers who often dress up in a themed costume. There are four competitions throughout the day: a solo and group singing exercise,a dance, a quiz and a craft competition. There are also house sports competition and house points are awarded throughout the year. At the end of each academic year the House Cup is awarded to the house with the most points.
