Building Project

King Philip Middle School completed its building project, which began in the fall of 2002, in the spring of 2005. The project included complete renovations to the whole school and expansion in certain areas. A two-story classroom wing was added to the left side of the existing building, with 24 new classrooms, two new computer/technology labs, and two new art rooms. The addition is rather unique as it is expanded out of a hill, making the second floor the main level and the first floor the basement level.

The library/media center was expanded out into the courtyard of the existing building, making it twice the size it was before. A new gymnasium along with new P.E. locker rooms was built, and the old gymnasium was divided in half, with one part being the auxiliary gym and the other part being the fitness/weight room. The nurse's office was relocated near the main office, which was expanded to include more offices/storage space. All the classrooms in the existing building were renovated and LCD projectors and computers were installed. The grounds of the school also took on a new look as the trees in front of the school were cut down to make room for a parking lot. Separate bus/drop off loops were created to ease traffic congestion. Behind the school, the baseball/soccer fields were renovated.
