The Kingsburg area also features two large beaches, Hirtle's Beach and Kingsburg Beach. There is also a protected cape which features hiking trails called Gaff Point. Kingsburg has three large and two smaller ponds that are popular for swimming.
History
Kingsburg began with 30-acre land lots issued for settlement was settled by the original Foreign Protestants settlers. Five of the found families were led by Leonard Hirtle, John Mossman, Peter Knack, Christian Hartman and John Kayser.It was for many decades primarily a fishing community. The village grew to have a couple hundred residents. By the late twentieth century, with the widespread decline of small-scale Atlantic fishery, most fishing culture has disappeared. With little opportunity, the town's population collapsed and many of the buildings were abandoned and destroyed, leaving the town with only a few dozen full time inhabitants.
Economy
Housebuilding is alive in the area with the first wave of construction buying and restoring older houses in the community. With the awe inspiring the landscape inspiring creative designers and hard working tradesmen created new custom homes with beautiful views for buyers. The new vacation destination has had a positive impact on the population of remote summer village. Today the area boasts a premium for housing prices. A lot of new ground and roads have been opened for future development.Much of the rural infrastructure for Upper and Lower Kingsburg is centered in Riverport, Nova Scotia. This includes Riverport Electric, the first municipal utility incorporated in Nova Scotia, the Riverport & District Fire Department, Riverport & District Community Center, Riverport Community School and Riverport Post Office.
