History

  • 1880: It opened as one of the original stations on the North Auckland Line.
  • 1993: The platform was upgraded to meet the requirements of new ex-Perth trains.
  • 2004: The station was rebuilt as part of the Western Line double-tracking project, for $4 million.
  • 2009-2010: The platforms were lengthened to 115 m for six-car trains, and several new stairs and an underpass from Sandringham Road to the northern side platform constructed, at a cost of $6 million. Signalling was also upgraded to allow trains to head out from both tracks into the same direction. These upgrades will serve the needs of the 2011 Rugby World Cup
