Kinloch is a small but growing town on the most northerly bay of Lake Taupo, 20 kilometres (12.4 mi) northwest of Taupo
on the North Island Volcanic Plateau
of New Zealand
. It is in the Waikato Region.
After its origins as a sheep station, Kinloch was soon in demand for holiday makers placing "baches" or holiday houses next to the lake.
Kinloch has a mixture of permanent residents and holiday makers. The lake is used for trout fishing, alongside water-skiing and wake boarding. The town has a Jack Nicklaus Golf Resort partly opened and a 10 hole local course.
Kinloch has early childhood education through the Lakeland Mobile Kindergarten service and bus access to Marotiri Primary School. Kinloch also hosts a French community, epitomised by the "Crouton" cafe.
