. The tunnel is part of County Road 557 and consists of the first and second stages of the four-lane motorway project Ring Road West. The tunnel is being built in two stages; the first stage, from Dolvik to Sandeide with a branch to Straume, stated in August 2006 and opened on 10 September 2010. Stage 2 will run from Sandeide to Liavatnet, where it will intersect with National Road 555
