.It is one of the remotest islands in the Huvadhu Atoll, being about 20km away from the closest inhabited island. The island is connected to the nearby kolaa island by a narrow causeway.

Statistics

The total population of Kolamaafushi is 1530. There are 728 women (Below 18- 362, Between 18 to 65- 351, over 65- 15) and 802 men (Under 18 years-429, 18 – 65 years-348, Over 65 years-25).
Economy


Traditionally, its economic activity is pole and line fishing for Tuna (Skipjacks, Yellowfins, Big-eyes ets) using modern mechanized boats.
