The Korea Development Institute is an autonomous economic policy think tank
that was set up by the South Korean government
. The Institute was founded in 1971, during a period of fast economic growth
, to provide research and analysis of economic policy decisions. One of its goals is to produce economic forecasts for government officials, private corporations, and the general public.

Make it your story
Students can choose and tailor the program based on their interests and development needs. The faculty consists of international experts. Teaching emphasis is placed on analyzing real-world policy issues through case studies, interactive class discussions, and on-site field projects. In addition to the core faculty, individuals from the government, business, and other research and academic institutions are invited as guest lecturers or visiting scholars.
The student body is drawn from high-potential government officials, business managers and exceptional students from Korea and abroad.
All courses are conducted in English.
After their first year of studies, students may also declare a concentration from among financial markets and regulation, human resources and social policy, international macroeconomic policy, international relations and political economy, public finance and local administration, real estate and public policy, and trade and industrial policy. The highly diverse student composition provides a unique educational environment in which both domestic and international students from all walks of life, including the government, media, and NGOs, are able to exchange ideas, knowledge and experiences.
The School’s affiliation with the Korea Development Institute (KDI) is the key strength of this program. With this affiliation, students not only have access to 60 years of Korean economic development history, but also have chances to join consulting projects managed by KDI’s Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP), which offers economic development consulting to governments in the developing world. After their first year of studies, students may declare their concentration in either economic policy or business for development

This program provides candidates with a thorough background and understanding of economic development and/or international relations. The program also equips candidates with the research skills needed to perform high-level analysis and produce cutting-edge research in their chosen field. Graduates are generally expected to move on to research positions in public policy or leadership positions in the public sector.

Master of Public Policy
The Master of Public Policy program was established in 1998 with a vision to foster leaders with a global perspective and an in-depth professional expertise in public policy issue areas. MPP/ED (MPP in Economic Development)
The Master of Public Policy/Economic Development (MPP/ED) program is an interdisciplinary program with the following three missions. The first is to equip government officials from the developing world with the needed knowledge and tools to design better economic development policies in their respective countries. Another is to provide public and private sector managers from developing countries with the managerial and leadership skills needed to become successful business entrepreneurs. The Master of Public Policy/Public Management (MPP/PM) program is an innovative, interdisciplinary program focused on developing the strategic management and leadership skills necessary for public sector organizations. In addition to learning essential management theories and analytic tools, students gain insightful perspectives by learning through the case study method, and develop the practical skills needed to solve real-world problems, resolve conflicts, and lead organizations in the public sector. International Food Festival
