The Reel Deal
In 1998, Coleman started The Reel Deal, a cable access television show, as a way to see films for free. He presented it with Brian Smith, Nichole Worrell, Tony Guerrero, Martin Thomas, and sound effects engineer Joel Stearns. The show took a relaxed tone with call-ins, reviews often filled with jokes, musings on life, and other irrelevant humor, and parody in a roundtable setting, with occasional guests. Later, when various members left, the line-up frequently changed for five years until Coleman settled on a group of five, including himself, Martin Thomas, Chris Cox, Christopher Robert Cargill and Tony Guerrero. Coleman also wrote a comic strip version of The Reel Deal which appeared in the Austin Statesman and The Austin Chronicle.2 A.M.
After five years, Coleman completed and released his first feature film, 2 A.M.. The comedy-drama follows the escapades of four friends in a bar and around the city before closing time. After years of reviewing films, Coleman felt that he should make his own film to get a different point of view, and show people what he could do. The film premiered at SXSW in AustinAustin

Style of critique and personal tastes
Coleman has stated that he does not like to view himself as a film critic, and just as a person who loves to watch films and share his opinion, hoping to entertain people along the way. He acknowledges that everyone has different tastes. He is known for often taking a lighthearted view in reviews, and often makes jokes about the characters and storyline of a film when reviewing it, usually ending on a short joke and doing impressions of the actors. When evaluating films, he often reviews them on the basis of creativity, originality and the quality of storytelling. He has also expressed that, based on the context of the film, he will adjust and lower his rating, saying, "You have to be flexible and take every film on its own, personal basis, and analyse what elements worked and what didn't." He has cited the film InceptionInception
