Politics

Ex-prime Minsister of Pakistan & President PML (N) Nawaz Sharif had won National Assembly Election in 1990 and be-came prime minister of Pakistan. Lawyer and ex- Law Minister of Pakistan Senator Mr. Khalid Ranjha had also participate in election for MNA ship (Jamat-e-Islami) but could not succeed. Current MNA is Ch. Ghias Ahmed Mela (Q Leag) & MPA Mr. Tahir Sindhu (Independent later on joined PML (N). Ch. Munazir Ali Ranjha (Ex- revenue Minister Punajab) is also belong to Kot Momin Tehsil and served this city for more than 20 years.

In Local bodies elections, Gondal (Saghrana family) has always played a dominant role. Ch. Murad Gondal(late) and then his Son Ch. Allah Yyar Gondal (late) been selected Chairman twice. Then Ch. Ahmed Yar Gondal (Son of Ch. Murad Gondal) elected as Nasim for 5 years. Garra Faimly & Shahabal ka Family have also played significant role. If we look by person, Mr. Faiz Muhammad Rana (late) & Ch. Bulanada Gujjar won election 3 to 4 times.

Garra Family

Khalid Garra(late) and Iqbal Garra are the most prominent persons of Garra family. Khalid and Iqbal are cousins. Muhammad Buksh Garra(late) was father of Khalid Garra and Iqbal Garra's father was Ahmed Buksh Garra. Khalid Garra and Iqbal Garra studied in Sargodha till F.S.C and after that Khalid went for graduation at F.C College Lahore while Iqbal Garra remained in Sargodha and completed his graduation there. Khalid died at very young age of 33 years on 3rd December 1998.He died in an accident by falling from stairs in Paris,France. He was the most popular and loved among his friends and family. Khalid was not only popular among friends and family but was becoming famous in whole Punjab.Muhammad Buksh was a brave and well known Police Officer. He was serving to the government as D.S.P Officer. Now Iqbal Garra is the main person of family. Garra family is one of the most influential family of Kot Momin.

Education

Kot Momin has two degree colleges one for boys and other for girls. Dar ul Huda Model High School and College is known for training engineers, doctors and other professionals. The MIPS High School located at Bhalwal road Kot Momin is an education institute of Kot Momin. Those who have financial capability move towards big cities like Lahore, Sargodha or Islamabad to get valued education. the near villages of kotmomin is under
