The village is basically an agrarian village and most of the residents are either farmers or marginal farmers. There are three paddy milling units located on the main road to Vinukonda from Ipur. The village has two lakes called Mangala vadi Cheruvu and Ramanna Cheruvu for drinking and cultivation purposes located at a distance of 1 km from the village in south and southeast directions respectively.

Temples, Churches & Mosques in Kotcherla
There is a famous temple, Ammavaaru Sri Ankala Parameswara Devi located at the 300mts from the main road towards the east. Every year in the month of May, a festival called Tirunalla happens for 3 days for the temple deity, Ammavaaru. Around 20,000 to 25,0000 pilgrims attend this festival from all over the district. It is considered as a big festival by the people of the village and celebrated grandly by decorating the temple with Garlands of different flowers and electrical lighting . During the festival the devotees of the temple deity do Pooja.
