Kristen Henderson is a founding member, songwriter & bassist for the band Antigone Rising
. She and her sister Cathy
formed the band in late 1993.
with her older sister Cathy and their brother. After graduating high school she attended Bucknell University
, where Cathy was also attending. They formed an all female band called Mistress while at Bucknell University with lead singer, Penelope "Peppy" Kokines. After graduation the three moved to New York City where they formed Antigone Rising.
Kristen was originally the drummer in the band, except for when the band played acoustic gigs, during which she would play guitar. During the Lilith Fair tour in 1998, Kristen was seen up front on guitar, and producers and management pushed her to remain up front moving forward. Kristen is the primary songwriter for the band. A decision was made within the band to have Kristen play guitar instead of drums.
Kristen and her partner, Sarah Ellis (VP of Marketing Director of Real Simple magazine), became pregnant at the same time and in February 2009 they gave birth; Kristen to a boy & Sarah to a girl. They wrote a memoir about the experience titled "Times Two" which came out in April 2011 through Free Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.

in 2003 and their major label debut From the Ground Up was released in conjunction with Starbucks Hear Music label. The band has toured with Rob Thomas, The Rolling Stones, The Allman Brothers, Dave Matthews Band, moe., Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Aerosmith.
Kristen was also a judge for the 8th annual Independent Music Awards
to support independent artists.
