stations became a part of new line.

The line currently has trains of 81-540/541 and the .2 and .5 modifications running since the opening.

History of construction

The line that is currently known as Line 5 first appeared in expansion plans back in the 1980s. The construction began in 1987, but the collapse of the Soviet Union and the resultant financial crash forced the city to freeze the construction of the Frunzenskiy radius (the section south of Sadovaya

). As for the Primorsky radius (the section north of Sadovaya), the city officials decided to continue building and incorporated in what was then known as Pravoberezhnaya Line (the current-day Line 4) until the construction of Frunzensky radius could be resumed. That is why Primorsky radius remained a part of Line 4 for the ten years.

station will open on Line 5. At this point, the stations are partially completed, and the trains bypass them in most instances (save for the few runs that drop off and pick up construction workers). In 2012 (as it was declared in 2010) two further stations are planned: Bukharestskaya and Mezhdunarodnaya. Prospekt Slavy station will not be completed in 2012 and according to the current designs, it will be a shallow-level station. Afterwords three more stations are planned. Dunayskaya, Balkanskaya and Yuzhnaya may be open in future, followed by a depot. According to the most recent plans, the last three stations will be either be shallow-level or above ground.

On the northern end of the line, two stations are planned: Dolgoozernaya and Kolomyazhskaya. They will be followed by another new depot. Once completed, the line will have 18 stations, and will to be in excess of 25 kilometres (15.5 mi) long.
