Patrick Kwame Ampadu is a former Irish
footballer who played for numerous clubs.
before joining Arsenal
in July 1988. Mainly a reserve player, he made two first-team appearances (both as substitutes) in the 1989–90
season, his debut coming against Derby County
on 24 March 1990. He had loan spells with Plymouth Argyle
and West Bromwich Albion
the following season, before making a permanent move to the latter in June 1991.
Ampadu spent three years at West Bromwich Albion before moving to Swansea City
in February 1994. He featured in Swansea City's 1994 Associate Members Cup win, as well as reaching the 1997 Football League Third Division play-off Final
. He moved to Leyton Orient
in July 1998 and reached the Third Division play-offs a second time with them in 1998–99. At Leyton Orient he scored twice, with goals coming against Rochdale in the league and Cardiff in the FA Cup. He finished his career with spells at Exeter City
(where he scored twice against Swindon Town in the League Cup and Dagenham & Redbridge in the league) and Newport County
.
His son Ethan Ampadu, is currently listed in the under 9's Exeter City team, where Ampadu is now an assistant youth coach.
