Kwassui College

was founded in 1879 in Nagasaki, Japan
by Elizabeth Russell. The Kwassui Institute operates the university, which until September 2010 was known in English as Kwassui Women's College, as well as Kwassui Junior High School, and Kwassui High School.
As of 2010, the university has a Graduate School (for English Literature and Language); a Faculty of Humanities (Departments of English, Contemporary Japanese Culture, and Human Relations); a Faculty of Music (Departments of Music Performance and Applied Music); a Faculty of Wellness Studies (Departments of Nutritional Health, Design and Science for Human Life, and Child Development and Education); and a Faculty of Nursing (Department of Nursing). In 2008, the university enrolled approximately 1,500 students.
