(also known as the VX8550 or the LG Chocolate Spin) is the upgrade to the popular LG Chocolate (VX8500)
music phone for Verizon Wireless
in the USA and Telus
in Canada. It was released online July 7, 2007 and comes in black, black cherry (red), blue mint (blue), and ice blue (light blue). The phone has many enhancements over the original VX8500 Chocolate series such as improved touch controls with vibrational feedback, a navigational wheel, a change in the key layout, an updated music player
and has a smoother design. This phone also includes the original 1.3 megapixel camera that came with the VX8500. The new Chocolate also implemented a lock switch on the side of the phone in order to prevent accidental calls while the phone is in the user's pocket, such as those to 911
that were made without the user knowing. Unfortunately, the new touch sensitive controls were not refined, and you could accidentally mute
the call you are on, or put the call on speakerphone
. Some Chocolate users also did not favor the new scroll wheel
. The LG Chocolate was replaced in August of 2008 by the LG VX-8560, or the LG Chocolate 3.
