Lafofa language

Lafofa, also Tegem, is a Niger–Congo language cluster spoken in Kordofan, Sudan. It is the closest relative of the Talodi languages, or the most divergent of the Talodi languages, depending on the definition of that family. Blench (2010) considers the Tegem and Amira varieties to be distinct languages; as Lafofa is poorly attested, there may be others.

Long considered one of the Talodi languages, albeit a divergent one, Blench posits that the Lafofa languages constitute a distinct branch of Niger–Congo. They share cognates with languages such as Ijo
