Municipality

The municipality of Laki covers an area of 290,5 km², 70% of which are covered with lush, dense forests. The mountain surroundings offer some magnificent views, including several gorges. The woods are rich in wildlife and differents sorts of berries. There several protected sites. The municipality is rich in lead and zinc ores and mining is the backbone of the economy, employing 1/3 of the working population. With its 3,555 inhabitants, Laki is among the smallest municipalities in the province.
