in a 2–0 win at home ground, in the second leg of the second qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League. On 5 October 2008, Diarra scored a goal against cross-town rivals Crvena zvezda in a 2–0 away win. He continued his good form by scoring an equaliser against Sampdoria
in the UEFA Cup group stage, on 24 October 2008, however Partizan would go on to lose the game 2–1. He made his 50th league
appearance on 7 March 2009, in a match against FK Javor, scoring the winning goal for Partizan. Diarra has been the top goalscorer of the 2008–09 SuperLiga season with 19 goals. He was also one of eight Partizan players named in the 2008–09 Serbian SuperLiga Team of the Year.
Diarra made his 100th competitive match for Partizan in a game against FK Napredak
on 1 November 2009, which Partizan won 3–1. On 16 December 2009, he scored the winning goal against Shakhtar Donetsk
in the UEFA Europa League. He scored a hat-trick against FK Mladi radnik
in the final 2009–10 SuperLiga
