Gritzinger (2004) recognized the Range Stormer as an unusually "sporty" vehicle in the context of Land Rover's history, thanks to a sharply sloped windshield and A-pillars, a low roof, hood vents, and the "scissor"-style nature of the doors. Other notable features of the Range Stormer include a "clamshell" hood.
A production version of the Range Stormer was planned for release in 2005 as a 2006 model, when it would become a four-door, "but retain much of the athletic appearance of the concept". This vehicle would become the Range Rover Sport
