The Langrial are found throughout Punjab, the tribe has different traditions to its origin, depending on the region it inhabits.

The founder Mughal emperor Zahiruddin Babar belonged to Amir Taimur Lang from his patternal side and to Changez khan, the famous Tatar emperor, from his maternal side. In the mutiny of 1857, all the mughals were under clouds and their lives, honour and securities were endagered. Some of the mughals renamed themselves as Lang-Ayal (meaning "the family of Ameer Taimur Lang") to conceal their identity. The word Lang-Ayal later evolved into Langrial with the passage of time.

Hukam Chand, the famous historian, in his book 'Tareekh-e-Multan (History of Multan) printed in 1869, the eldest ancestor of Langrials was one Charan, a Berhaman by cast, and his son adopted Islam during the times of Shah Sultan Somro in Bekanir State, India and his islamic name was Abdullah. Later on, one of the Langrials, named Shah Jam Meer son of Sultan Ghias-ud-Din became king of Kashmir, and his descendents still reside there.

Whereas in a reported case by Lahore High Court printed in PLD 1959 Lahore 372 (D.B.). It was held that langrials are Jodhra Rajputs while discussing the Gazetteer of Attock District 1907.

There is another history about langrial trial tribe that they used to cook langar in king's kitchen so the cast name was derived from there. They got enough land from kings to settle up in different regions of Pakistan. They have different origin, when Islam came to sub continent they converted from Hindu lower casts to Muslim.
