Lara Soccer Club
Encyclopedia
Lara Soccer Club is an association football (soccer) club based in the Geelong
area. Lara SC was established in 1998 and has enjoyed success in a number of age groups and leagues.
In its first year in the competition the Men’s Senior team won the WVSA Division 2 League Cup, with Tony Reed receiving the WVSA Division 2 Best and Fairest award. Due to growing demand, in 2004 there are plans to field additional Under 9, Under 11 and Under 13 teams. To accommodate the increasing number of teams and to provide a field which is closer to the standard soccer pitch size, a proposal is currently being pursued to develop a dedicated soccer pitch as a joint project of the Lara Sporting Club, the Department of Employment, Education and Training and the City of Greater Geelong. The field would be used by both the Lara Secondary College and the Lara Sporting Club Soccer Section. Investigation is also underway into the construction of a pavilion between the baseball field and oval 3 to accommodate all sporting sections throughout the year.*
