David Souter Robertson started the name Souter Robertson, and is the ancestor of all those who inherit the name Souter Robertson (mostly in Australia), as it was he who changed his name (with the assent of Queen Victoria) from Robertson Souter to Souter Robertson, though the original family name was in fact Johnstoun. He was one of the founders of modern accountancy, though he and all his sons went bankrupt, one of them twice!
