, including a one Doctor Tannhauser, discovered Atlantean ruins on the bottom of the Atlantic. After eight years of studying murky photographs of the Atlantean language taken from the Atlantean ruins, and under the orders of the Führer, Tannhauser lead a team back to the Atlantic to retrieve one of the Atlantean stasis tubes. This tube contained Lazarus Bale.

Bale was awoken from stasis sometime in 1944. Much of his history during this period is unknown but what is known is that he formed an organization known as Axis. Bale's ultimate plan was to infect the world with a deadly disease manufactured from Atlantean viruses that were retrieved from a tower that had survived the fall of Atlantis. His corporation Axis was to be the only company capable of providing a cure and consequently world domination.

Powers

Bale has never displayed any super human powers common to Atlanteans although he did at one point hypnotize MI6 agent Stephanie Shelly, alluding to some kind of abilities and has displayed a sixth sense in which he has been able to avoid photographs being taken of him. Bale has displayed knowledge pertaining to genetics (as evidenced by his clones) and Atlantean diseases leading one to speculate that Bale may have been a doctor of some sort during the days of Atlantis.
