He released his first album, entitled S.Wing in 2001. He would release the following album J2 in 2005. He has now released his 3rd album entitled It's New. He served in the military, a duty for all under-30 Korean males. When he returned from the military, he held a fan meeting. Since leaving Sechs Kies, he has now changed his look, with longer hair and various light hair colors.

Lee Jae Jin entered the military August 25, 2008. While serving, he was treated for psychiatric issues and he tried to commit suicide. He then went to a camp within the military for soldiers who have had a hard time adjusting or deemed to be suffering from depression. After the three day camp, he seemed to be feeling better and was granted a short vacation from duty on March 2, 2009. He was supposed to return on March 6, 2009, but he never reported back and cut off all contact with family and friends. On April 8, 2009, he was found by military police investigators in a Daegu motel.
